GAME TECHNOLOGY ASSOCIATION ANNOUNCED
AND ANNUAL MEETING SCHEDULED FOR JUNE 7, 2005 IN SAN FRANCISCO
AUSTIN, Texas,
April 18, 2005 - The Game Initiative announced the Game Technology
Association (GTA), a peer networking group specifically serving
companies creating software and hardware technologies enabling and
advancing computer video game development. Also announced today, the
annual Game Technology Association meeting will take place June 7, 2005
in San Francisco, California. The meeting is open to all qualified
participant companies, with no membership being required.
The Game Technology
Association serves the needs of companies involved in producing software
and hardware technologies for the creation of interactive entertainment
for video game consoles, handheld and mobile devices, personal
computers, consumer electronics and the Internet. Qualified participants
include game development application and tools providers, middleware and
development software companies, game console and platform companies,
art, animation and audio tools companies, video, audio and graphic chip
and card companies and peripherals companies.
“The game industry is
maturing at a rapid pace. New platforms are emerging from established
industry players as well as new companies to the industry,” said
Christopher V. Sherman, Game Initiative and Game Technology Association
executive director. “Traditionally the game industry has been limited to
the personal computer and to game consoles which connect to TV sets.
Mobile games and Internet games are growing at an astounding pace. New
software tools, technologies and peripherals continue to push the
envelope for creativity and game play, in some cases blurring the lines
between games and other forms of entertainment. Production values
continue to increase and new game formats are being created.”
Game Technology
Meeting June 7 in San Francisco
The annual Game
Technology Meeting will take place June 7 in San Francisco. Game
Technology Meetings offer a casual, peer-to-peer forum where hardware
and software companies creating game-enabling technologies can come
together meet and discuss industry issues and opportunities. Indeed this
is a unique forum unto the industry in that game developers and
publishers will not be in attendance. GTA meetings allow technology
leaders to meet, exchange ideas and conduct business in a relaxed
atmosphere. The meeting agenda is expected to be informal with
opportunities to engage in discussion, both in group and individual
settings.
To cost to attend the
June 7, 2005 GTA meeting is $99 per attendee with online registration
prior to May 22, 2005. Attendees are expected to be CEOs, strategic
alliance execs, senior marketing execs, business development execs and
developer relations and publisher relations professionals. Qualified
participants are welcome to register online to attend the meeting or
